The Youth Center also offers certification training through its partnership with the National Retail Federation (NRF). Participants who express interest in the retail industry may take an approved course through the NRF Foundation in Customer Service and Sales. This five-hour course is completed at the Youth Center and covers all vital industry competencies on customer service, preparing the participant for work in retail. Upon completion of the course, participants take an exam to receive certification through the NRF, which is highly recognized by most retail giants. Youth who demonstrate a proficiency in customer service may participate in the Work RIGHT Program. To enhance the participant's experience, and increase their chance at employment, we are working with local retailers in North Orange County (La Habra, Brea, Placentia, Fullerton, and Buena Park) in providing trained employees in an integrated work experience setting.

Additionally, the Youth Center offers Food Handlers certification. Through our partnership with eFood Handlers, we provide classroom training in food safety. Basic Food Safety Training is the core training module for food servers, handlers and preparers. It teaches them key principles to keep food and customers safe. This FDA-compliant course includes information on Cross Contamination, Temperature Control, Personal Hygiene, and dozens of other topics food workers must understand and successfully perform in the workplace. Upon the end of the course, students will take a test and receive a certificate if proficient. The certificate is approved by the State of California and is required for employment in all food occupation positions.
