Filming in La Habra

The City of La Habra encourages filming in our town for many reasons. Our bedroom community has a variety of homes and neighborhoods that include homes built in the '40s, '50s, '60s and '70s. We are within a 50-mile radius of Los Angeles, making it easier to film in our community and avoid paying the higher costs associated with being outside that radius.

All motion pictures, television and still photography must apply for a film permit to film in the City. Students with a letter from their school, signed by the department chair confirming that it is a project for the school are not required to meet commercial requirements. In addition, if filming involves fewer than four people, you will not be required to meet the commercial requirements. Film permits are required to be submitted 30 days in advance. Once we have received the information, we will review it within 24 hours to determine what conditions may need to be met in order to film in the City. You will also need to request a Los Angeles County Fire Permit. For more information, please contact the Community Center at 562-383-4200.
