Special Olympics Host Town

Every two years, the world transcends boundaries of geography, nationality, political philosophy, gender, age, culture and religion to come together for the largest sporting and humanitarian event on the planet, the Special Olympics World Games. This year's World Games will take place in Los Angeles and will be the largest event that city has hosted since the 1984 Olympic Games.

In order to be part of this great event, the City of La Habra sought to be involved by becoming a Special Olympics Host Town, and on November 3, 2014, it was confirmed that La Habra was chosen. The host town program takes place prior to the Opening Ceremony and gives the athletic delegations from around the world a welcoming experience and an opportunity to take part in a cultural exchange of activities, creating a bond between the athletes and community members that will be life changing and promote acceptance and inclusion of intellectual disabilities throughout the community.
