Excursion: Reagan Presidential Library & Museum with "Secrets of WWII" Exhibit

Saturday, July 16, 2022

Spend a memorable day at the state-of-the-art, 125,000 square foot Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, featuring 18 galleries that pay tribute to America’s 40th president. Visit a full-scale replica of Reagan’s Oval Office, see a piece of the Berlin Wall, explore interactive exhibits, read letters written by President Reagan to Nancy and pay your respects at their final resting place with spectacular views of the Conejo Valley. The Air Force One Pavilion features a presidential limousine, a secret service vehicle, a Marine One helicopter and a walk-through of the Air Force One airplane that served seven U.S. Presidents. Also on view for a limited time is the new exhibit, The Secrets of World War II, featuring over 100 real and rare artifacts on loan from international museums and private collections. These items, which have never been seen together, have been assembled by The Reagan Library to tell the wild, strange, compelling and sometimes shockingly true stories of rapid technological advancement, creative problem solving, and incredible human persistence under the backdrop of the world’s largest and most destructive war. While touring the exhibition, you’ll learn about classified deception units, hero animals, female sharpshooters and why red lipstick helped the Allies win the war. Priceless items on display include an infamous German Enigma Coding-Decoding Machine, a knife from Omaha Beach, a signed copy of the speech Eisenhower gave to the troops on the eve of D-Day, a M1 Garand rifle used at the Battle of the Bulge, and an actual German Storch STOL aircraft captured by the Allies. Enjoy approximately five hours at leisure with lunch on your own at the café – offering both indoor and outdoor seating. This tour involves moderate walking. Price includes tour director and driver gratuity. Departs from La Bonita Park parking lot.
