The City's Tamale Festival will return for its third year on November 27, 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., bigger and better than ever! This year's event will be held on Euclid St., between La Habra Blvd. & Lambert Rd., and is sponsored by Northgate Market. Due to the high demand for tamales, we have increased the number of tamale vendors. There also will be food vendors offering pupusas, bacon-wrapped hotdogs, nachos, Mexican-style street corn and baked potatoes, as well as a cantina serving micheladas and margaritas. Live musical entertainment on the main stage (Portola Park) begins at 10:00 a.m.and will include performances by the Mariachi Divas, Soto, Samantha Elizando and Power House. Dance performances will take place on the community stage (Brio Park) beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by tamale making demonstrations by Northgate Market from 2:00-5:00 p.m. In addition, holiday gift shoppers will be able to choose from a variety of items from over 50 vendors.
And as always, there will be Best Tamale, Best Salsa, Best Tamale Dessert, and Judges' Award contests, as well as churro eating contests ( the last open to kids, teens and adults). New this year will be a marshmallow stacking contest for younger guests.
Please note that we have filled all of our food vendor spots for this event. If you would like to be added to a waiting list in case a spot opens, please email Katie Elmore at kelmore@lahabraca.gov.
