Who doesn't love tamales? This year's La Habra Tamale Festival will give tamale fans a chance to order hot or frozen tamales and drinks from two vendors, with curbside pickup available, on Sunday, November 29, 12-6 pm at the La Habra Community Center, 101 W. La Habra Blvd. Orders can be placed in person at the Community Center, or by calling 562-383-4200, Mon.-Fri., 8 am-5 pm; or online at www.LaHabraTamaleFestival.com (online service fee will apply).
Me Gusta Gourmet Tamales is offering a choice of:
- Chicken
- Beef
- Pork
- Chile Cheese
- Sweet Corn
- Pineapple
- Veggie
The cost is $4/single, $24/half-dozen & $44/dozen. Tamale lovers are free to mix their half and whole-dozen choices.
Northgate Market is offering a choice of:
- Chicken
- Beef
- Pork
- Cheese
- Corn
- Chocolate
The cost is $2/single or $7/4, so tamales need to be ordered singly OR in multiples of four. In addition, Northgate is offering Champurrado and Atole de Nuez ($32 oz.-$5, $72 oz.-$10), as well as Aguas Frescas in flavors of Guava, Lime w/Chia, and Watermelon (72 oz.-$9).
In addition, local Electric Company Theatre is offering a digital tamale tasting experience that takes place in you own home. Las Abuelas is a bilingual streaming show that centers on two imaginary abuelas from La Habra, who will take viewers through the history of tamales, the process by which abuelas every where make them, and finally the tasting of the tamales themselves. Included with the video is a 4 pack of Northgate Tamales (chicken, pork, cheese and corn). Las Abuelas will stream starting at 7 pm on November 29th and continue through December 6th, and will be accessible anytime you are ready to dine on your delicious tamales with Las Abuelas.
