La Habra Self-Serve Compost Station
The City of La Habra is proud to offer a new pilot program that will offer free compost to the community from a new self-serve compost station. This program will help the City to reach it's recovered organic waste procurement requirements under SB 1383. OC Waste & Recycling creates compost and mulch from the organic waste collected from residents' organic recycling carts. These products can be used for a variety of purposes, such as top dressing, amending soil, establishing flower/garden beds, and more! Learn more tips about how to use compost and mulch. Additionally, the compost and mulch are STA Certified, meaning they have the Seal of Testing Assurance through the US Compost Council.
Self-Serve Compost Station
Residents of La Habra may collect free compost and mulch (when available) at the City's new Self-Serve Compost Station at Loma Norte Park nearby the Ladera Palma ballfields parking lot. As a self-service station, residents must bring their own shovels and containers (bags, buckets, bins, etc.). The compost is first-come, first-served, and will be frequently restocked with fresh compost.
Address
Loma Norte Park (Back parking lot up the driveway, nearby the Ladera Palma parking lot)
2051 Brookdale Avenue
La Habra, CA 90631

Compost Stock
In July, 2025, compost will be restocked frequently but may not be on any particular schedule. Once demand has been firmly established, the site will be restocked every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Guidelines
- Compost is first come, first served.
- Compost is free to use for anyone who needs it, including contractors.
- Shovels and bags are not provided. Please bring shovels and containers.
- Vehicles must not block the driveway. If no parking spaces are available, please return later. Vehicle queueing down the driveway or onto Brookdale Avenue is not allowed.
- Fill buckets 1/2 to 2/3 full. The amount of moisture in the compost will make the load heavier.
- Use proper lifting techniques when loading.
- Do not overload vehicles. An overloaded vehicle can result in diminished handling and braking. Use extra care when driving.
- Take care when loading and transporting the compost. Try to not make a mess.
